Process Shift and Process Drift
Process Shift is where the quality of product declines noticeably over a relatively short period of time. Usual causes are staff turnover, new product lines or changes in supplier. A period of process analysis followed by In-Line Training will often resolve the problem.
Process Drift is harder to identify and usually arises from a number of small changes occurring over time resulting in a gradual decline in quality. Causes can be workload conflicts, staff turnover, culture/politics, new materials or suppliers. Analysis and corrective action usually takes longer and may involve both Theory and In-Line Training. |
